Update: No "no-risk" pledge from Bobcats

Yesterday, we told you how the Minnesota Timberwolves had joined the developing business trend of offering customers job loss assurance on their purchases. The Wolves' no-risk pledge, announced this week, gives season-ticket holders a refund on all games that haven't been played if the ticket holder loses his or her job in 2009.

We wondered: Are the Bobcats considering a similar offer?

"We're not doing anything that drastic," Bobcats spokesman Michael Thompson said this afternoon.

The Bobcats, like the Wolves, are nodding to the economy with their new season-ticket packages, due out next week, Thompson says. No specifics yet, but prices will be down in most categories, with more benefits and incentives.

Here's one: "A trip with the team," Thompson says.

The Bobcats, like the Wolves, rank near the bottom in NBA attendance. Getting those numbers up will be a challenge in this recession - certainly the motivation for the Wolves' assurance pledge and the Bobcats' new incentives.

Says Thompson: "It has to be compelling in this climate."

You idiots that diss the Bobcats demonstrate low intellegence -- sorry. They are our team -- Charlotte is a collection of us all and they are it and you should show courage and get on the team's side and quit complaining. They are finally getting better. I bet if they make the play offs you'll be at the game -- you read this story, didn't you?

i think u whiners need to quit with the bobcats hate. u obviously care enough to open thi article, read it and then comment on it. ya'll are the same people who will be the first to jump on the bobcats band wagon when they become a successful franchise. these are the times teams need fans the most, when thier young and inexperienced. just be glad the region has a team, not many places get two chances to have a franchise in one sport. you guys are the reasons smaller markets arn't taken seriously.

I hope the Bobcats continue to improve. They play hard and have a likable team.

LOL! You guys kill me! Supporting the Bobcats is not intelligent. They're a poorly managed franchise who knows nothing about marketing and won't put a winning team together for years. This is the kind of groupthink that's obviously present in Charlotte. It's the reason that so many of you supported the Kens as they killed you're economy and there's no entrepreneurial spirit. So go ahead and jump on with another loser!
